Management review - The one meeting

that helps stop reoccurring problems

Picture
Most businesses don’t have a “system” problem - They have a follow-through problem.

The same issues keep coming back because nobody sits down, looks at the evidence, makes decisions, and assigns actions.

That’s what **management review** is for.
Not a corporate meeting. Not a box-tick.
A short, structured check-in that keeps your business audit-ready and stops repeat problems.

What is a management review (in plain English)?
It’s a scheduled meeting where leadership reviews how the business is performing and decides what to improve.

Auditors want to see:
- you review performance and compliance
- you make decisions based on evidence
- you assign actions and follow them through

Why it matters (even if you’re busy)
A good management review helps you:
- stop repeat nonconformities
- reduce complaints and rework
- tighten up delivery
- prove control to clients and auditors
- keep objectives and risks up to date

The simple agenda that works obviously each standard will have its own requirements you can email me for a copy of a specific management review

You don’t need a 3-hour meeting - For most SMEs, 45–60 minutes annually is enough.

1) Actions from the last review
- What was agreed?
- What’s done?
- What’s overdue and why?

2) Customer feedback + complaints
- complaints (what happened, trends)
- compliments/testimonials
- repeat issues

3) Audit results
- internal audits completed?
- key findings
- recurring findings

4) Nonconformities + corrective actions
- what was raised
- root causes
- effectiveness checks (did it stay fixed?)

5) Performance / KPIs (keep it simple)
Pick a handful that matter, e.g.:
- on-time delivery
- rework/returns
- incidents/near misses
- training completion
- supplier performance

6) Risks and opportunities
- what’s changed since last time?
- new contracts/sites/suppliers?
- new legal or client requirements?

7) Resources
- staffing capacity
- competence/training needs
- tools/equipment

8) Objectives
- are targets being met?
- what needs changing?
- what’s the next priority?

9) Decisions + actions (the most important part)
For each action, record:
- what will be done
- who owns it
- due date
- what “done” looks like

What evidence should you keep?
Keep it simple:
- meeting minutes (1–2 pages)
- action log
- any supporting reports (KPIs, audit summary, complaints summary)

Common mistakes that get flagged
- no actions recorded
- actions recorded but never closed
- no evidence reviewed (all opinion)
- same issues appear every review with no change

The CAW way
We keep management review practical:
- plain-English agenda
- decisions and actions that actually get done
- evidence stored so you can find it in seconds

If you want the management review template we use with clients, message us and we’ll send it over.
